Desiree Peacock

Practice Manager and Lead Veterinary Technician

Although she was born in Austin, Desiree has traveled and lived all over the Pacific Northwest, New England, and she also spent a while living in Mexico.  She loves watching Anime and is busy building her custom house. She has a daughter that loves all things princess-y, and her husband has longer hair than all the women in her family! She shares her home with a black Labrador named Cheese, a Chihuahua named Chorizo, Azul the cat, and a carnivorous goldfish named Fatty, and his tank mate Wilson. Desiree has been with Avery Ranch Animal Hospital for quite a few years, in one capacity or another. Always interested in the welfare of her community, she was recently elected to represent her hometown of Jonestown as an Alderwoman!

Jennifer

Lead Receptionist

Avery Ranch Animal Hospital’s very first employee, Jennifer has been with Dr. Skupin from the beginning. Years of caring for her own special-needs pets has given her insight and the compassion to help patients and owners through difficult illnesses. Her dedication and love for her wonderful family carries over to her work with her extended animal family here at Avery Ranch. She has recently started training her Belgian Malinois Daizie in tracking; one of the phases of Schutzhund in which she hopes to attain a title in one day. Most days she has her German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross Teka behind the front desk with her, she loves coming to work to see all her furry buddies!

Mae Woods

Veterinary Technician and Receptionist

Mae’s specialty is gluten-free cooking, her and her artistic husband often moonlight as chefs for their friends and family. She grew up in a large family, and trained service dogs when she was in high school. Mae has a passion for dressage horses, the tiny house movement, and cheese quesadillas. At the first chance she gets, she would love to travel to Brazil and other South American countries. Her fur kids include a yellow Labrador names Quinn that does therapy work with kids, a French Bulldog named Franklin that has had only a teeny bit of plastic surgery (I swear!), and an Anglo-Arabian horse named Zoe who is too smart for her own good.  She has become invaluable at the front desk, her past work in non-profit organizations and degree in Communications has benefited Avery Ranch Animal Hospital greatly!

Bevin Bearss

Veterinary Technician

Bevin joined Avery Ranch Animal Hospital in August of 2010. Originally hailing from Houston, she started getting involved with horses from a young age and became a certified equine-assisted psychotherapist while still in high school. She loves the outdoors, especially being out in the country with her three retired horses (aka “pasture ornaments”), or taking her miniature border collies, Scout and Calypso, out for a nice trail run. She has a passion for travel, and combines her love for animals and adventure with mission trips to the Philippines to work with indigenous people groups teaching livestock care and organic farming techniques.
